Jelena Milešević is a biochemist, with MSc in Nutrition and Rural Development, Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, UGent, Belgium, and PhD in Food Technology, University of Novi Sad, Serbia. She completed postgraduate internship at WHO HQ in Geneva, at the Chronic Disease and Health Promotion department, related to review of national health, nutrition and NCD policies worldwide. She currently holds the position of Scientific Associate at the Centre of Research Excellence in Nutrition and Metabolism, Institute of Medical Research (IMR), University of Belgrade, National institute of Republic of Serbia.
Dr Milešević is involved in national, EU FP7 and H2020 projects conducted by IMR, in the field of food composition database and food consumption. She is actively involved in EFSA support projects on dietary surveys in Serbia and in the Balkan region. She worked for EuroFIR AISBL as research associate, on EU FP7 projects ODIN (Food-based solutions for optimal vitamin D nutrition and health through the lifecycle) and QuaLiFy, developing specialized food composition databases, portion size databases, and nutrient recommendation databases for IT applications.
Within CAPNUTRA she works as a consultant on development and application of dietary assessment tools
